Types of Flooring

Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is any flooring made from timber, either structural or aesthetic. What makes wood wonderful material for flooring is its elasticity and flexibility.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring, or sometimes referred to as floating wood tile (US and Canada), is a synthetic product with multiple layers fused together with a lamination process. In most situations, laminate flooring is made to simulate wood flooring. In some cases it is made to simulate stone flooring.

Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring or, more accurately, vinyl composition tile (VCT) is a finished flooring product mainly used in commercial settings. Vinyl tiles are composed of colored vinyl chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses (1/8” is most common) by heat and pressure and cut into 12” squares. Tiles are applied to a smooth, leveled sub-floor using a specially formulated vinyl adhesive that remains tacky but does not completely dry. Tiles are typically waxed and buffed using special materials and equipment.

Stone Flooring

Stone flooring is one of the oldest types of flooring. Most stone flooring evokes images of the ancient Greek and Roman dynasties. The most popular types of stone flooring are limestone, granite, slate and marble. Stone flooring has timeless appeal and durability.
